In 2017, Cockeysville-based Smoke came to Cross Street Market as a pop-up, becoming Federal Hill’s new go-to for modern American BBQ. With generous portions, inventive flavor mash-ups, and a menu that’s as much fun to read as it is to eat (a best seller is a pulled pork sandwich called “Notrious P.I.G.”), Chef Josh White is redefining BBQ, catching the attention of not only local press, but also the Food Network.
